Professor Emeritus Kerry Emanuel of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, prominent meteorologist and climate scientist, will speak on Thursday, January 5 at 7:00 PM livestreamed via Zoom webinar. Prof. Emanuel has recently retired from the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) at MIT. He holds an S.B. degree in Earth and Planetary Sciences (1976) and a Ph.D. in Meteorology (1978), both from MIT. His career research interests have focused on tropical meteorology and climate, with a specialty in hurricane physics. As co-founder of MIT’s Lorenz Center, he remains actively involved in climate research which fosters creative approaches to learning how climate works.
