Walks for Alzheimer’s

The Barnstable Amateur Radio club is helping the Alzheimer's Family Support Center to run a fundraiser walk at Scusset Beach Reservation in Bourne. The 1-mile walk will be along the Cape Cod Canal bike/walking path. The event is open to all who wish to support the cause.

As part of our commitment to serve the Cape Cod community, the local amateur radio club has volunteered to help.  The Barnstable Amateur Radio Club will be providing communication support for the event, to help track walkers, dispatch transportation on the event grounds, and generally provide situational awareness for the event coordinator. Members of the Barnstable Amateur Radio Club (BARC), as well as the Falmouth Amateur Radio Association (FARA), are volunteering their time and equipment to help assure that the event runs as smoothly as expected. With the possibility of hundreds of expected walkers, a shuttle bus, golf cart, a band, and other activities, the organizers expect the communication assistance to be an important part of a successful event.
