January 18, 2021 - KM1CC will be on the air for the 118th anniversary of Marconi's sending of the first transatlantic message from the USA to Europe (UK) made on January 18, 1903. Operations will take place from home stations. Details to come soon.
We encourage everyone who is interested in HF operations to set up a station and participate in Winter Field Day, 30-31 January 2021. If you’re new to the hobby or to HF operating, have questions about the Winter Field Day rules or how to set up your station, would like some pointers about contesting, or are just curious what it’s all about, our virtual “Planning Your Winter Field Day” seminar will help you get started. We are offering two sessions next week, on Wednesday evening and on Saturday morning.
In his presentation on ARES at the BARC meeting on Jan 4, 2021, Frank WQ1O (District Emergency Coordinator for the Cape and Islands) mentioned Winlink Thursdays. These events, starting January 7, are coordinated by the American Red Cross EmComm Training group. The Falmouth Amateur Radio Assoc. will hold a tech. class in October from 8 am - 12:30 pm approx. on the 12th, 19th & 26th and have a VE session imediately following the class on the 26th. On January 18, 1903, young inventor Guglielmo Marconi made communication history by sending the first public transatlantic wireless message from his station on the South Wellfleet bluffs to Poldhu, Great Britain. The KM1CC Marconi Cape Cod Radio Club operators will talk to hams around the world on January 18-19, 2019 beginning at 1000 hours Eastern Time (1500 Hours G.M.T.).

All hams are invited to a meet and greet with Marconi’s daughter, Princess Elettra Marconi at Cape Cod National Seashore. The plan is for hams to arrive about 10 am and gather to stand along the entrance walkway when the Princess arrives about 10:30 am (or indoors if the weather is bad).
What is The New England Amateur Radio Festival (NEAR-Fest)?
The NEAR-Fest is an international event run by and for all radio hobbyists and enthusiasts, including “hams”, short-wave listeners, scanner buffs, vintage/antique radio fans, etc. NEAR-Fest is held twice annually, spring and fall, rain or shine, at the Deerfield Fairgrounds, Deerfield NH beginning on Friday at 0900 and ending Saturday at 1500 hours.

The one-loop course begins and ends at the Village Green in Falmouth center. The first part is easy, the latter is a test. The people who do well on this course follow the following formula: go out easy, take plenty of fluids, and save energy for the hills. Although the course is not closed to traffic, it is run on secondary roads and monitored by the police and numerous volunteers.
